Kay Ceniceros Community Center Feels More Like Home

THE KAY CENICEROS Community Center in Sun City will become larger, thanks to the addition of a single-family home that was next to the property.

The county bought a single-family home adjacent to the existing Kay Ceniceros Community Center at Evans and Newport roads. The purchase will add more than 2,100 square feet to the center.

Construction began in July 09, at a cost of $949,000. As part of the expansion project, a new water-efficient plumbing system, an energy-saving electrical system, a new fire alarm and sprinkler system, water-efficient landscaping and visible signage will be installed. The interior and exterior of the home will be remodeled into the community center campus.

The single-family home will be converted to the adult day care component. Vacating the space that is currently used for adult day care will allow the senior center to expand programming.

Tenants of the center include three nonprofits, one of which helps Alzheimer’s patients.

The project is being funded by the Community Development Block Grant program.

The Kay Ceniceros Community Center is located at 29995 Evans Road in Sun City.  For more information about programs, services and events, please call 951.672.9673 or visit our website at www.kayceniceros.org.
