WALK INTO RANCHO JURUPA PARK and you will find a new, meandering driveway, a camp store and an 18-hole miniature golf course that is the first of its kind in Southern California.
The park has been expanded by 50 acres. With the additional land come new amenities such as a splash pad, two large shelters for special events and a regional trail. Sixty-one new campsites have also been added.
"One of the things I like about this expansion is that it also opens up the park more to the community," said County Parks Director Scott Bangle.
Most miniature golf courses use ferris wheels, but this one showcases the beauty of nature. “There is a waterfall and a variety of grasses,” Bangle said. “It’s more like a real golf course.”
The next phase of the expansion is under design and will include cabins that can be rented out, a Frisbee golf course and rock climbing walls. There is a big demand for cabins, Bangle said.
Across the street, the Rancho Jurupa Sports Park will serve as a regional soccer complex for the Jurupa area. The 36-acre park will be located on the northwest corner of Crestmore and Loring Ranch roads.
